Edwards & Company today announced that they are the first Northern Irish Law firm to achieve the BRIEFED Quality Mark in Data Protection

Dorcas Crawford, Senior Partner Edwards & Company.

The protection of our client’s data has always been a priority. This year, we set the challenge of reaching a standard of excellence, not set by us, but by an external accreditation body. The process was rigorous, testing us against almost fifty key criteria. We are delighted to have become the first to achieve the BRIEFED Quality Mark in Data Protection. This was not an easy process and involved changes and taking unprecedented steps in all aspects of our handling, sharing and storing of practice information; however, it is no less than our clients have the right to expect. No accreditation will make us infallible, rather it makes us more aware of our responsibilities and the need for constant vigilance.

Orlagh Kelly, Barrister & CEO BRIEFED.

Edwards & Company is to be commended for their success, commitment and forward thinking. Given the work that lawyers do and the personal information they hold, the importance of data protection must not be underestimated. The hard work of Edwards & Company has truly paid off. The Quality Mark criteria is robust and aligned with the requirements of Data Protection legislation and the Information Commissioner's Office. Clients of Edwards & Company can be assured that as a law firm, they are satisfying their regulatory obligations and their staff are truly invested in treating their personal information with the respect it deserves.
